The answer is self-belief and experience. Students who need help in mathematics generally have had a bad experience in mathematics at some point in their learning program. To change that situation RobertOMath.com offers students a very positive experience that puts the fun back into learning and achieving.
The first step in the mathematics help needed by most students is praise. A positive experience starts with the coach, a great coach can make learning fun and the students enjoy the sessions, thus learning without the stress and worry that can be sometimes associated with this subject.
The Power of Your Imagination
How We Can Make It Work For You?
The Power Of Your Imagination!
There are many examples of self-fulfilling prophesies brought on by suggestion. As William Shakespeare said in Hamlet, “There’s nothing good or bad but thinking makes it so.”Here are two excellent examples from ‘Accelerated Learning” by Colin Rose ISBN 0 905553 128 (p75-77).”Man freezes to death in refrigeration car. The 1964 headline was hardly startling, but the circumstances were. A man had become trapped inside the refrigeration car as the door accidentally slammed on him. When he was found, he had all the physical symptoms of having frozen to death. Yet the refrigeration unit was switched off and at no time had the temperature been at, or even close, to freezing. He believed that he was going to freeze – and his mind had produced the physical effect to create hypothermia and freeze him to death.”
“Dr Rosenthal, a Californian psychologist, administered IQ tests to a public school class. He totally ignored the results, but nevertheless divided the class into two groups. The first group, he informed the teacher, was considerable brighter than the second. There was in fact no difference. The children were never told his conclusions and the teacher was told to treat all the pupils the same.
Eight months later the grades of the two arbitrarily classified groups were compared. The first group had grades 28% better than the second group and their IQ’s actually measured higher! Without one word being said, the teacher had managed to communicate, quite subconsciously, a higher expectation of the first group and a lower expectation of the second group. ALL WITHOUT THE SUBJECT EVEN KNOWING. The teacher had created a better learning environment for the favoured group, and it worked.”
“Imagination,” said Napoleon, “rules the world”

How can we make it work for you?
From the very first session we provide the praise, encouragement and motivation which are the missing ingredients in all students who are under-achieving in mathematics. At RobertOMath, we call our tutors “coaches”, as we aim to coach the student to believe in their own ability to learn, rather than merely tutor in the subject content. Only a dedicated coach can provide this very strong positive feedback to the under-achieving students. This is the keystone of the RobertOMath unique coaching method. It is a bitter irony, that children who NEED praise the most, often merit it least in a school environment, and never receive any praise. All our coaches (tutors) have been trained to offer unstinted yet valid praise and encouragement to the students. Our research and experience have shown students can improve far beyond their own or their parents’ highest levels of expectations.
If you are the student you have to take some ownership for your development. Read motivational material. There are some excellent books recommended elsewhere on this web site.
If you are the parent you want your child to succeed then the first step is for you to believe your child does have unlimited powers to achieve. Find a coaching mentor who also has this philosophy and passion. Naturally we would recommend Cool Math Guru, but we are not the only tuition centre with this view.
Finding a good tutor and coach is only half the solution. The onus is now on you to continue to support the tutor and to be consistent with ongoing praise and encouragement for your child. Also, you have to monitor the work of the tutor to ensure that they continue to inspire your child.
The first mathematics help needed by most students is praise. Secondly we have to create fun learning experiences for the student and that is something we pride ourselves on here at RobertOMath.
As the master tutor, Robert Ollis firmly believes that every child is a genius, a view firmly supported by our team of coaches who collectively, go to great lengths to inspire students in all areas of Mathematic tuition.
Remember our motto, brilliant, inspirational, fun, now shouldn’t that be the case for all learning experiences?
